If you have missing teeth, you know how devastating that can be. You may be self-conscious when you smile, if you smile at all. You remember what you looked like when you had all of your teeth and the pictures just make you wish you hadn't lost them.

You look in the mirror and though you are older, you wonder if you would look younger if all of your teeth were where they belonged.

What Do Implants Do for You?

Dental implants are an amazing breakthrough in cosmetic and restorative dentistry. The teeth that are implanted are matched so closely to your natural teeth that you can't even tell the difference. Sure, you could get dentures or a bridge but you'd know the difference. And it just doesn't look the same.

When you lose a tooth, depending on where it is, sometimes your jawline seems to change. It may seem to sag. This can make you look older, but an implant can change all that. With an implant, a post is screwed into your jawline where your natural tooth should be. This holds a place for your tooth and prevents the other teeth from drifting. The drifting can sometimes cause your jawline to change which can affect your looks.

Whether implants can make you look younger is completely in the eye of the beholder. But it is true that a full set of natural looking teeth can shave years off your appearance. Your self-confidence will grow and just the fact that you'll want to smile will change your appearance. The frown lines will be replaced by laugh lines.

Whether you're doing it for cosmetic reasons or restorative reasons a tooth implant is by far the best solution for replacing a missing tooth. It is stable, it is permanent, it looks natural and you can eat whatever you want
